The eerie call of the common loons echoed across Lake Bellaire in late May evening in North Michigan. This is a painting that has been in the planning for several months now. As we walked along the lake several deer darted out of the nearby woods and an owl hooted in the distance. As the loons glided into an inlet they left a trail of rippling white water behind. The quite of the evening was disturbed only by the sounds of the calling birds.
