I've set a goal of eventually doing a 5" x 7" painting of each letter of the alphabet, a kind of alphabet book using antique kids blocks with an image for each letter. I don't expect to do them in alphabetical order since I'll need to find ideas and materials for each letter, but eventually I'll try to complete all the letters in the alphabet. This is the first one in that series. Also, don't expect to see them all in a series, since I expect to post other painting subjects as I go along. If you have ideas for some of the letters, you can send me an email and I'll take a look at your ideas.

My first sighting of Cedar Waxwings was as a kid of about eleven or twelve years old. A flock of Waxwings invaded our yard and settled on our cherry tree. They were there for a few days then disappeared. When I spotted this pair while biking the other day I knew I wanted to paint them to bring back the memory of many years ago.

This is a painting from our summer travels in Hawaii. The Island of Maui was our favorite location and watching the surfers in early morning was delightful. I wanted to capture the movement and rush of the waves as they came crashing into the shore and hope you can feel and hear the sound of the water as you view this work.
